morning ritual

i love breakfast... especially going out for breakfast at my favorite place al's breakfast in dinky town. but, i'm not so good at the day to day making myself breakfast in the morning. i usually survive on coffee, and frankly that's not working so well these days. so, i decided to start a new morning ritual {inspired by nigella lawson} ... a soft boiled egg with sea salt {served in grandma verlie's egg cups}, and honey whole wheat and flax seed toast fingers. it was the perfect way to start the day, and with a little thunder storm brewing... even better. i think it's going to be a good day.

1 egg {the fresh ones are the best} this is when i miss having chickens... someday soon we'll have our farm.

honey whole wheat and flax artisan bread, toasted and buttered. i used this recipe, and added flax seed meal. i baked it just as a do my artisan bread in a free form loaf.

i made a spring posy today. just because i wanted to. kind of makes me want to marry my love all over again... this time in my bare feet under an oak tree in the country.

i would cary a posy.

good grief... there are days that i just want to start over. you know the days right? when it feels like you just keep making the same mistakes all over again, and your jeans are tight, and the laundry is piling up, and all you really want to do is take a nap, or go for a long drive... roll the windows down and sing. that's today. sometimes i forget to breathe. sometimes i forget to love myself. thank god the sun is shining today. for pretty necklaces that serve as a reminder. for mothers who take your son overnight so you can take a bath, or play your guitar, and maybe write a song or two for that album that is not getting done. it's been almost four years now since i released a record. i think it's time. i'm ready to sing.
